Wireless Communication Devices (WCD)
Wireless communication devices (WCD), including cell phones, tablets, headphones, smartwatches and gaming systems, must be appropriately regulated to protect the learning environment, students, and staff. Bartow Middle School has established the following practices in line with District policy 5136-Wireless Communication Devices as stated in the Code of Student Conduct.
Possession of a WCD by a student at school during school hours is a privilege that may be forfeited by any student who fails to abide by the terms of the School and District policy or otherwise abuses this privilege.
- Students will be permitted to have their device in their possession throughout the school day if the device is out of sight and powered off.
- Students will be permitted to use their device before school starts (8:55 am bell), during their assigned lunch, and following announcements at the end of the day (4:00 pm).
The following consequences will apply for a student using a WCD without approval:
